I bring it back to Subaru and today they inform me the noise is coming from the central diff/ transmission and they ask if I ever took the transmission apart. Nothing was ever done to the transmission. I have a 2016 Crosstrek premium model ( manual transmission). It has about 81K -82K miles on it. I have had my car 8 months and have only had wind noise in two situations. 1. With an aftermarket sunroof delector fitted. 2. With roof crossbars fitted. Both cause the wind noise to get progressively worse from 80kph up. I have removed the deflector permanently and only fit the cross bars when I need them.My XV crosstrek has approximately 2400 kms. now. May 19, 2021 · This time I went out to see what this "noise" was. Well it is a slight hum, almost sounds like a small electric motor. I crawl under and seems to be coming from the differential. Could not feel anything. The car was not driven for four hours at this time.
